Prize Giving Night

Saturday evening was windy and wet, but the atmosphere inside the golf club was warm and friendly, because it was Prize Giving Night. A large number of prize winners and friends turned up to receive their prizes. For Captains Terry Pavey, Jenny Merrett and Tom Rawlings it was nearly the last official function of their year of office, but one of the more pleasurable ones. The evening was organised by our highly efficient Director of Competitions, Terry Russell.
Terry Pavey was able to present our retiring professional, Adrian Marsh, with a small gift from the Club and all the tankards, cups and glasses were doled out.
Whilst everybody really deserves a mention I will only single out one player Tom Hurst, who not only won the Junior Championship but also the Order of Merit (by a considerable margin) and other cups and trophies. He had over 40 qualifying rounds of golf in the year, the vast majority to par or better and finished up with a handicap of 2.4, a remarkably fine performance. Well done. He needed his father's help to carry away all his trophies on Saturday!
Afterwards there was the usual buffet provided by Ray and Pauline, and everyone went away happy, despite the weather.
