On Wednesday there was a good turnout for our Annual General Meeting. The accounts are up to the year
ending on March 31st 2009 so the useful update up to the present month was interesting. Like all golf
clubs we have a problem of declining numbers, but careful budgeting has enabled us to reduce our deficit,
and even show a small profit of £2,333. In the current year if things continue to run smoothly it is
hoped to make a profit of up to £30k. Terry Pavey, our 2009 Captain, reported that he had been able
to present a cheque for £13k to his charity, the Bath Cancer Support Group. It was announced that the
basic subscription for 2010 would be £649, an increase of only £24, which will be very welcome in these
stringent financial times.
Under the new voting system Terry Pavey was elected Chairman for 2010, and Geoff Mosley was re-elected
as Finance Director for the next three years.
The Turkey Trot on the previous Saturday started in bad weather which quickly became horrendous and was then abandoned.
All entry money, and two's, will be credited to bar cards.
The final Turkey Trot on Sunday was the interesting format of a Three Man Bowmaker with one score to count for
first six holes, two on the second six and all three scores to count on the last six.
The format produces a par of 72 points. With a fierce wind scoring was not easy.
1st Tim Fowler (15)/ Roger Goodlitte (15) & Chris Lindberg (7) 82 points
2nd Malcolm Andrews (14)/Rob Earney (27) & Sandy Keen (11) 81
3rd Keith Beasley (15)/Alan Evans-Jones (14) & Norman Shillabeer (18) 79.
Friday the 13th was a bleak day and some Seniors decided that playing golf was the last thing they wanted to do.
However some brave souls persisted and scored well.
1st Derek Thompson 37 pts, 2nd Colin Davies 36, Mike Sharpe 34 (C/B).
