Stragglers vs Ladies

Despite the rain the recent match between the Stragglers and the Ladies was enjoyed by all. It resulted in a narrow defeat of the Ladies by 3 games to 2, with one game halved.

Ladies Christmas Charity Day

The Ladies Christmas Charity Golf Day was a great success. There was an 18 hole Bowmaker Competition.

There were also Christmas Goods for sale. This raised £676 towards helping to send Sudanese students to Secondary School- the Lady Captain's Charity.

Annual Seniors Dinner

On Friday the Seniors and their Ladies dressed in best bib and tucker for the fine meal provided by Ray in the Clubhouse, the annual Seniors Dinner. Afterwards there were the usual speeches with Roger Hill being a very late replacement for President, Harry Goddard, who had to cry off on the morning of the dinner. The various Seniors Cups were presented most notably the Seniors Mendip Vase to John Jarvis, Centenary Trophy to Roger Hill and the Harry Bowles Trophy to Brian Francis. The match between the Seniors and the Ladies was won by the Ladies and the Lady Captain, Jenny Merrett, was present to receive the John Wyke Trophy.

Turkey Trot Bowmaker

The Turkey Trot Bowmaker on Saturday produced a few higher scores than usual, in weather which was largely much better than had been expected.
1st Ron Curtis (18), Chris Giles (14) & Basil Axford (17) 88 points
2nd Pat Meatyard (6), Chris Roe (16) & Hugh Glandfield (10) 86 pts
3rd Paul Smith, Alan Fussell & Jim Mallon 85 pts (C/B).
