The final of the Seniors Knockout for the Harry Bowles Cup has only just been played. After a hectic season of matches our Senior's Captain, John Whyman, injured his back and so was unable to play the other finalist, Brian Francis, until last Wednesday. Despite the prospect of autumnal weather the day turned out to be very pleasant and although in pain John fought hard. However at dormie three up Brian must have thought the match was his. But beware of the injured golfer, John fought back to get all square after 18 holes. Unfortunately the 19th hole proved his undoing as the put for a par slipped out, leaving Brian Francis as the Seniors Champion for 2009.
Saturday's Turkey Trot was a 4 BBB Stableford, with three quarters handicap. As ever scoring was good but the big hitters, George Morgan and Neil Onslow led the field with a fine 44 points. Second were Nigel Hill and our secretary Jim Scott on 43 points. Their back nine was just good enough to beat Hugh Fountain and Keith Middleton.
