In the Stragglers Final on Saturday conditions were pretty horrendous with gale force winds. Despite the conditions Dave Cox scored a tremendous 22 points on the first half, but fell away to 15 points on the second nine. Derek ball did the complete reverse and he therefore carried off the first prize.
Sunday was the re-run of the Coronation Cup which had to be called off earlier in the season.
Conditions were much kinder than the previous day and the scoring improved tremendously.
Young Tom Hurst rounded off a fine season by scoring a gross 68 and getting his handicap down to 2.
Not only did he win the cup, but also topped the Order of Merit. He scored 342 points, winning by
56 points from Neil Onslow with Duncan Offer 3rd at 247 points. Two hundred and twenty two members

This concludes the competitions for this year. It has been a good season with some fine performances
from our younger members. It is to be hoped that they will continue to play well for Mendip in the
years ahead.
We now start the Winter Turkey Trots, which take place at weekends until the end of November.
Another opportunity for our new Winter Members to enter and meet established members not only
on the course but socially afterwards.
