The Men's Invitation took place as planned on Saturday. It was a glorious day and 98 pairs came from
near (Wells) and far(Dorset, Hampshire and Worcester) to experience the well presented course and the
good food. My brother came down from Kidderminster for the third time and saw views he did not know
existed, on the previous two occasions it has been rained off and the replay has been in overcast conditions!
Young Tom Hurst enjoyed himself on the 18th, he had an albatross i.e. a hole in one.
The Rawlings Brothers did well for themselves, young Matt winning and Tom coming 4th.
Scoring was very good and three under par only just got into the top twenty.
Winners: M. Rawlings & P. Berwick (Wells) 64 (B 9)
2nd: A Sond & B. Hickey 64
3rd: G. Bradley & C. Payne (Wells) 65 (B9)
4th: T. Rawlings & K. Hurst 65 (B9)
5th: K. Millard & R. Ackland 65.
Young Tom Hurst had another good day on Monday scoring a gross 74 in the Rylance Shield for Juniors.
1st: Daniel Cox 83-18=65
2nd: Tom Hurst 74-4=70
3rd: Alistair Wall 85-10=75
After their home defeat by Tidworth the Seniors might have hoped for a better result at West Wilts, but it was not to be and they went down by 4 games to 2.
This week the Seniors take over the course on Thursday with 180 players competing for the Seniors Mendip Vase, ably organised by Trevor Howse.
